Bio| flowers for the broken spirit Furiae was the daughter of the royal family of Caerleon. At age fourteen she was named the next goddess—the final seal that protects the balance of the other three, keeping the world in order. Her life was instantly transformed. The Empire, believing that breaking the seals would lead to the salvation of the world, killed her parents and destroyed her kingdom. She escaped with her older brother Caim, who joined the Union that fought against the Empire. Furiae was left in an old castle to be guarded, living out her days praying quietly under the agonizing burden of the seal. Five years later, the Empire attacked again and the castle became a battlefield. Caim was mortally wounded in battle, but survived thanks to a pact with a red dragon. Furiae and Caim are forced to escape again, along with Furiae’s betrothed, Inuart. While Caim searched for the other three seals in order to ensure their safety, Furiae stayed in hiding in the mountains. However, Inuart was soon captured by the enemy. When they met him again, he was brainwashed by the Watchers of the Empire and had formed a pact with a black dragon, sacrificing his beautiful singing that Furiae had loved him for. He easily fended off Caim and kidnapped Furiae against her will, taking her to the Empire’s headquarters. She stayed with the Watchers for quite some time, trying to reason with Inuart and failing. Eventually, Caim came to save her, but the priestess Manah interfered. Manah tried to expose Furiae’s secret love for Caim, and terrified of what Caim might think, Furiae plunged a knife into her chest before the priestess could finish. Furiae died, destroying the goddess’ seal and throwing the world into chaos.
